When the island begins to feel claustrophobic and your dog is whining for more running room and bark to chew on, it’s time for a day trip – somewhere with trees and fresh air and plenty of room to run!
Just a few hours from Long Island, off Route 7, on one of the most scenic routes in the northeast, is a park full of cascading waterfalls and fun for the whole family — Kent Falls State Park. Located in Kent, Connecticut, this state park is filled with natural beauty. Enjoy a relaxing packed lunch in the picnic area or hike the winding trails to get a few of the awe-inspiring 250 foot water falls. Your dog is welcome here as long as he’s leashed and you clean up after him. Parking at the park is $15 for out of state vehicles ($9 for CT residents).
After a nice hike, head over to town and enjoy window shopping the galleries and shops along main street with your pet. With plenty of outdoor restaurants and cafe’s to choose from, dining with your dog shouldn’t be a problem.
